AC Monza Appoints Paulo Fonseca As New Head Coach
Fonseca Signs Two-Year Deal with Serie A Club
AC Monza have appointed Paulo Fonseca as their new head coach on a two-year deal, the Serie A club announced on Monday. Fonseca, 49, has been out of work since leaving Roma at the end of the 2020-21 season.
The Portuguese coach has a wealth of experience in Serie A, having previously coached Roma for two seasons. He also led Shakhtar Donetsk to three Ukrainian Premier League titles and four Ukrainian Cups during his time in charge.
Fonseca Excited to Join AC Monza
"I am very excited to join AC Monza," Fonseca said. "This is a club with a lot of ambition and I am looking forward to helping them achieve their goals."
"I believe that my experience in Serie A and my style of play will be a good fit for AC Monza. I am confident that we can have a successful season together."
Fonseca's appointment is a major coup for AC Monza, who are looking to establish themselves in Serie A after winning promotion from Serie B last season.
The club's ambitious owners have invested heavily in the squad this summer, and Fonseca will be expected to challenge for a top-half finish in his first season in charge.
Fonseca is expected to bring an attacking style of play to AC Monza, with a focus on possession and quick passing. He is also known for his ability to develop young players, which will be important for AC Monza as they look to build a team for the future.
