Aston Merrygold and JB Gill Reunite to Support Amy Dowden on Strictly Come Dancing
Former JLS stars show their support for fellow dancer on BBC One show
Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden was joined by her former dance partners Aston Merrygold and JB Gill during Saturday night's show.
The trio performed a special routine to JLS's hit song "Beat Again" in support of Dowden, who is currently competing in the BBC One dance competition with partner Karim Zeroual.
Dowden, who is a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2018. She has spoken openly about her experiences with the condition, and has used her platform to raise awareness of the disease.
Merrygold and Gill, who are both former contestants on Strictly Come Dancing, said they were delighted to be able to support Dowden.
"Amy is an inspiration to us all," said Merrygold. "She's a fantastic dancer and an amazing role model for people with Crohn's disease.
"We're so proud of her for everything she's achieved, and we're here to support her every step of the way," added Gill.
Dowden said she was "overwhelmed" by the support from her former dance partners.
"It means so much to me to have them here," she said. "They're like family to me, and I know they'll always be there for me.
"I'm so grateful for their support, and I'm so proud of everything we've achieved together," she added.
The performance was a highlight of Saturday night's show, and it received a standing ovation from the audience.
Dowden and Zeroual are currently in the semi-finals of Strictly Come Dancing, and they are hoping to make it to the final next week.
