Bruno Guimaraes has taken Sandro Tonali under his wing at Newcastle – Eddie Howe
Eddie Howe revealed how Bruno Guimaraes has taken new signing Sandro Tonali under his wing at Newcastle United following his move from AC Milan.
Howe expecting Guimaraes to be a big influence on Tonali
Guimaraes joined back up with the Newcastle squad during their warm-weather training camp in Saudi Arabia this week after helping Brazil reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
The midfielder was given an extended break following his international exploits but is now back in training and Howe believes he can have a big influence on his new team-mate.
“Bruno is a leader on and off the pitch,” Howe said. “He’s a very passionate player and he’s always looking to help his team-mates. I think he’ll be a great influence on Sandro.”
Tonali impressing in training
Tonali has impressed in training since joining Newcastle and Howe is excited to see what he can bring to the team.
“Sandro is a very talented player,” Howe said. “He’s still young but he’s already shown that he has a lot of quality.
“I think he can be a very important player for us in the future.”
Guimaraes and Tonali could form a formidable partnership
Guimaraes and Tonali could form a formidable partnership in the Newcastle midfield.
Both players are excellent passers and they both have a good eye for goal.
If they can strike up a good understanding, they could be a real force for Newcastle in the second half of the season.
Howe excited about Newcastle’s midfield options
Howe is excited about the midfield options he now has at his disposal.
As well as Guimaraes and Tonali, he also has Joelinton, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock and Jacob Murphy who can all play in midfield.
“I think we have a very good balance in midfield now,” Howe said. “We have players who can create, players who can score goals and players who can defend.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how they all work together in the second half of the season.”
