England 82-0 Wales: Anna Davies scores five tries as rampant England claim record win

England scored tries at will as they thrashed Wales 82-0 in Cardiff, with Anna Davies scoring five tries to equal the Red Roses' record for a single match.

A dominant display

England were dominant from the start and took the lead through Lark Davies, before Wales were reduced to 14 players when Siwan Lillicrap was sent to the sin bin. England took full advantage, with Davies scoring her first try shortly after.

The Red Roses continued to pour on the pressure and added further tries through Marlie Packer and Emily Scarratt, before Davies scored her second just before half-time to give England a 31-0 lead at the break.

Second-half onslaught

The second half was even more one-sided as England ran in a further seven tries, with Davies completing her hat-trick before adding two more to take her tally to five. Ellie Kildunne, Helena Rowland and Claudia MacDonald also crossed for tries as England racked up a record-breaking score.

The victory was a record win for England, surpassing the 73-0 win they recorded against Ireland in 2019. It was also Wales' heaviest ever defeat.

Reaction

England coach Simon Middleton said: "I'm delighted with the performance today. We played with great intensity and accuracy, and we were clinical in our finishing. Anna Davies was outstanding, and she fully deserved her five tries."

Wales coach Ioan Cunningham said: "We're very disappointed with the result today. We knew England were a strong team, but we didn't expect to lose by such a big margin. We need to learn from this performance and come back stronger in the next match."
