F1: Verstappen triumphs in chaotic Brazilian Grand Prix for record 14th win
Red Bull's Max Verstappen claimed a record-extending 14th victory of the season at a chaotic and rain-hit Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday.
Despite starting from tenth on the grid, Verstappen produced a masterful drive to overtake seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton on lap 71 of 71 and secure his second consecutive drivers' title.
The race was red-flagged on lap seven after a multi-car collision caused chaos on the opening lap. George Russell, Carlos Sainz, and Sergio Perez were among those involved in the incident, with Perez retiring on the spot.
When the race resumed, Verstappen quickly moved up the order, passing Fernando Alonso and Lando Norris within the first few laps. He then closed in on Hamilton, who had started from pole position, and passed him for the lead on lap 59.
Hamilton fought back and retook the lead on lap 68, but Verstappen was not to be denied. He passed Hamilton again on lap 71 and held on to win by just over four seconds.
Verstappen's victory extends his lead in the drivers' championship to 16 points with just two races remaining. He is now on the verge of securing his second consecutive title.
Hamilton finished second, with Ferrari's Charles Leclerc completing the podium. Russell, Alonso, and Norris finished fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.
The race was also notable for the performance of Kevin Magnussen, who finished eighth for Haas. It was the American team's best result of the season.
The Brazilian Grand Prix was a thrilling and unpredictable race, and Verstappen's victory was a testament to his skill and determination.
