The Seasiders made light work of their League Two opponents in Kent to book their place in the next stage of the competition.
Blackpool made light work of their League Two opponents Gillingham to book their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup. The Seasiders cruised to a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Jerry Yates and Callum Connolly.
Yates opened the scoring in the first half with a close-range finish after being set up by Josh Bowler. Connolly doubled the lead in the second half with a header from a corner.
Gillingham rarely threatened the Blackpool goal and the Seasiders could have won by a bigger margin. They had several chances to extend their lead, but they were unable to find the net again.
Blackpool will now face Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the competition. The tie will be played at Bloomfield Road on January 28.
Reaction
Blackpool manager Neil Critchley was delighted with his team's performance.
"I'm really pleased with the way we played today," he said. "We were professional and we did what we had to do to win the game. We could have scored more goals, but I'm not going to be too greedy."
Gillingham manager Steve Evans was disappointed with his team's performance.
"We didn't play well enough today," he said. "We were second best in every department. Blackpool were the better team and they deserved to win the game."
