Rangers continue their march to the title

Rangers extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table to eight points with a comfortable 2-0 win over Dundee United at Ibrox on Saturday.

Alfredo Morelos opened the scoring for the hosts in the 25th minute, with Scott Wright adding a second just after the hour mark.

The win keeps Rangers on course for their second successive Premiership title, with just six games remaining in the season.

Celtic remain in the hunt

Celtic remain in the hunt for a 10th successive title, but they were held to a 1-1 draw by Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.

David Turnbull gave Celtic an early lead, but Aberdeen equalised through Christian Ramirez just before half-time.

The result leaves Celtic seven points behind Rangers, but they have a game in hand on their rivals.

Hearts move into third

Hearts moved into third place in the table with a 2-0 win over St Johnstone at Tynecastle on Saturday.

Liam Boyce and Josh Ginnelly scored the goals for the hosts, who are now just two points behind Celtic.

St Johnstone remain in ninth place, just two points above the relegation play-off place.

Dundee United drop to fourth

Dundee United dropped to fourth place in the table following their defeat to Rangers.

The Taysiders are now six points behind Hearts and will need to win their remaining games if they are to qualify for Europe next season.

Motherwell move up to fifth

Motherwell moved up to fifth place in the table with a 1-0 win over Livingston at Fir Park on Saturday.

Kevin van Veen scored the only goal of the game in the second half.

Motherwell are now just one point behind Dundee United and will be looking to finish the season strongly.
