Greg Davies teases why he won't be hosting Junior Taskmaster with Alex Horne
The 54-year-old comedian recently presented Taskmaster, a program in which contestants compete in a range of bizarre and funny challenges, for 10 seasons
The Taskmaster creator and star Greg Davies has explained why he won’t be presenting the new Junior Taskmaster series when it airs on E4 later in 2023. Davies, 54, has hosted the show for ten seasons, with comedian and musician Alex Horne serving as his assistant. However, when the show returns as a junior version, Davies will be replaced by Freddie Flintoff.
Davies, recently spoke about his decision not to host Junior Taskmaster. He suggested that he wants to leave the show at the top. With Taskmaster currently one of the most successful and popular shows on Channel 4, he seems to think that there’s no better time for him to leave.
Davies also said that he felt that the show needed some new blood to present it. He suggested that he’d been doing the show for a long time and that it might be good for someone else to come in and put their own twist on it.
“I mean, who knows whether this is true, but I always maintain that you get the best out of people when they’ve got something to prove,” he said. “I did four series of We Are Klang and it got more successful every series. But I think there’s an argument that actually it got worse every series because our hunger diminished”
Greg Davies did state that he is not leaving the show entirely. While he won’t be presenting the junior version, he’ll still return to host future series of Taskmaster with Horne.
Junior Taskmaster will air on E4 later in 2023. The lineup of contestants and the air date are yet to be confirmed.
