India Fightback In Second Test Against New Zealand After Ravindra Jadeja's heroics
India fought back on day 2 of the second Test against New Zealand in Mumbai on Saturday.
Ravindra Jadeja starred with the ball, taking 4-44 as the tourists were bowled out for 324 in their first innings.
India then lost Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara cheaply, but Virat Kohli (36 not out) and Shreyas Iyer (12 not out) steadied the ship to take them to 72-2 at the close.
New Zealand had resumed the day on 221-3, with Henry Nicholls and Daryl Mitchell unbeaten on 73 and 44 respectively.
Nicholls added just one more run to his overnight score before he was caught by Shreyas Iyer off the bowling of Mohammed Shami.
Mitchell went on to make 60 before he was caught by Virat Kohli off the bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin.
Jadeja then took over, removing Tom Blundell (25), Kyle Jamieson (17), and Rachin Ravindra (0) in quick succession.
Trent Boult (35) and Ajaz Patel (29) added some valuable runs at the end, but Jadeja eventually wrapped up the innings by having Boult caught by Pujara.
India's openers made a solid start to their reply, putting on 49 for the first wicket before Agarwal was caught by Jamieson off the bowling of Boult for 28.
Pujara was then dismissed for 10, caught by Mitchell off the bowling of Patel.
Kohli and Iyer then put on an unbroken partnership of 23 to guide India to the close.
The match is evenly poised heading into day 3, with both teams in with a chance of victory.
