James Martin finds presenting 'really difficult'
The TV chef has been cooking up a storm on our screens for over 20 years, but he still gets nervous before every show.
"It's not easy," he says. "It's more of a performance than a cookery show. I'm not just cooking, I'm also trying to entertain and educate. It's a lot of pressure."
Martin, 49, began his TV career in 1996, when he co-hosted the BBC show Ready Steady Cook. He went on to front his own shows, including Saturday Kitchen and James Martin's Saturday Morning. He is now one of the most popular chefs in the UK.
Despite his success, Martin says he still gets nervous before every show. "I always feel like I'm going to make a mistake," he says. "But I think that's a good thing. It keeps me on my toes." Martin says his nerves help him to stay focused and perform at his best.
"I want to make sure that the viewers are entertained and informed," he says. "I want them to learn something from my shows, but I also want them to have fun. I think that's the key to successful presenting. It's all about finding that balance between information and entertainment."
Martin says he is grateful for the opportunity to work in television. "I love cooking, and I love sharing my passion with others," he says. "I feel very lucky to be able to do what I do."
