Lopetegui makes ‘no one safe’ at West Ham United with major decision
West Ham United manager Julen Lopetegui has warned that ‘no one is safe’ at the club, as he looks to shake up the squad after a poor start to the season.
The Hammers have won just two of their opening seven Premier League games, and Lopetegui has already made some big decisions in an attempt to turn things around.
The most notable change has been the axing of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who has been replaced by Alphonse Areola. Fabianski had been a regular for West Ham for the past five seasons, but Lopetegui has decided to give Areola a chance to prove himself.
Lopetegui has also made changes to his defence, with Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson coming into the team at the expense of Issa Diop and Kurt Zouma. And in midfield, Tomas Soucek has been dropped to the bench, with Flynn Downes and Declan Rice preferred.
Lopetegui’s changes have been met with mixed reactions from the West Ham fans. Some believe that the manager is right to shake things up, while others are concerned that he is making too many changes too soon.
Only time will tell whether Lopetegui’s decisions will have the desired effect. But one thing is for sure: he is not afraid to make big calls. And that could be exactly what West Ham need to turn their season around.

"I have made some changes to the team because I believe that we need to improve our performances," Lopetegui said.
"No one is safe at this club. If you are not performing, then you will be dropped.
"I am confident that the players who have come into the team will do a good job. They are all talented players, and they are all hungry to prove themselves.
"I know that we have a difficult run of games coming up, but I am confident that we can turn things around. We have a good squad, and we are working hard to improve.
"I am excited about the future of this club. I believe that we can achieve great things together."
