Marcelo SACKED by Fluminese after incredible argument with boss as Brazil legend REFUSED pre-sub tactics
Fluminense have SACKED Marcelo just one month into his second spell at the club after a row with manager Fernando Diniz over being substituted
The former Real Madrid left-back is alleged to have refused to warm up and then remonstrated with the head coach when he was asked to come off.
Diniz was furious with Marcelo's attitude and axed him from the squad for their next match against Corinthians.
Fluminense chiefs have now met and agreed to terminate the 34-year-old's contract.
Marcelo only rejoined his boyhood club last month after leaving Olympiacos.
He made just six appearances for the Brazilian side before his bust-up with Diniz.
Marcelo was a key member of the Real Madrid team that won five Champions Leagues and six La Liga titles.
He also won the Copa America with Brazil in 2019.
Marcelo's sacking is a major blow to Fluminense's hopes of winning the Brazilian Serie A title.
The Rio de Janeiro club are currently third in the table, but they are now eight points behind leaders Palmeiras.
Diniz will be hoping that his team can bounce back from Marcelo's departure and challenge for the title.
