Marcus Trescothick defends quality of English white-ball cricket after crushing defeat
Former England captain says team needs to "be fearless" and "back themselves"
Trescothick believes England can still win the World Cup despite defeat to Australia
Marcus Trescothick has defended the quality of English white-ball cricket after their crushing defeat to Australia in the second one-day international at Lord's.
The former England captain said the team needs to "be fearless" and "back themselves" if they are to be successful in the upcoming World Cup.
Trescothick's comments come after England were bowled out for just 142 in the second ODI, losing by 112 runs.
The defeat was England's second in a row, following their loss to Australia in the first ODI at The Oval.
Despite the defeats, Trescothick believes England can still win the World Cup. He said the team has the "quality and experience" to be successful.
"We need to be fearless and back ourselves," Trescothick said. "We have the quality and experience to win the World Cup. We just need to believe in ourselves."
England will play their next ODI against Australia on Saturday at Old Trafford.
