Neymar and Messi NOT Reuniting at Inter Miami Any Time Soon
Brazil legend Rivaldo throws cold water on Inter Miami reunion
It would have been the reunion that football fans worldwide would have loved to see.
Current Paris Saint Germain (PSG) star Neymar and former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi lining up for David Beckham co-owned Inter Miami and bringing their magic back to the MLS.
No one would have been more delighted at such a prospect than Inter Miami manager Phil Neville, who has made no secret of his admiration for the Brazilian in the past.
However, such a move now looks extremely unlikely following comments by Brazil legend Rivaldo.
Rivaldo, who played for Inter Milan and Barcelona during his career, believes that Neymar is destined to stay at PSG.
Rivaldo on Neymar's future
"With the way things stand at the moment, I don't think Neymar will be playing at Inter Miami any time soon,” Rivaldo told Betfair.
"He still has a long contract with PSG and, despite the rumours, I don't see him leaving the club any time soon."
Rivaldo did, however, leave the door slightly open for a future move to the United States for the 31-year-old.
"MLS is a great league and one that is improving all the time," added Rivaldo.
"So, who knows? Maybe one day in the future, Neymar will decide to come and play in the United States, but I think he will play in Europe for a few more years before that."
Neymar's current contract with PSG runs until the end of the 2024/25 season, and the French giants are believed to be keen to extend his deal.
The Brazilian has been in impressive form for PSG this season, scoring 15 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.
He also played a key role in Brazil's success at the World Cup in Qatar, where he scored two goals in five appearances as the Selecao reached the quarter-finals.
What does the future hold for Neymar?
It remains to be seen where Neymar's future lies beyond his current contract with PSG.
A return to Barcelona has been mooted, while Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked with the Brazilian.
However, for now, it seems that Neymar is set to remain in Paris for the foreseeable future.
Conclusion
The prospect of Neymar and Messi reuniting at Inter Miami was always a long shot, but Rivaldo's comments have made it seem like an even more remote possibility.
For now, it seems that Neymar is happy to stay at PSG, and he will continue to be one of the most exciting players to watch in world football for the next few years.
