Nottingham Forest boss blasts 'nonsense' transfer talk
Nuno Espirito Santo has hit out at transfer speculation linking his Nottingham Forest side with a move for Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo
The Portuguese forward has been linked with a move to the City Ground in recent weeks, but Nuno has dismissed the rumours as "nonsense"
Speaking to the media ahead of Forest's Premier League clash with Fulham on Saturday, Nuno said: "I don't know where this is coming from. It's nonsense. We are not interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Nuno went on to say that he is happy with the squad he has at his disposal and that he is not looking to make any major signings in the January transfer window.
"I am very happy with the players I have," he said. "We have a good squad and we are not looking to make any major changes in January.
"We are focused on the task at hand, which is to stay in the Premier League. We have a tough game against Fulham on Saturday and that is all we are thinking about."
Nuno's comments come amid reports that Ronaldo is unhappy at Manchester United and is looking to leave the club in January.
The 37-year-old has been linked with a move to a number of clubs, including Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Sporting Lisbon.
However, it seems that Forest are not interested in signing Ronaldo, despite the club's recent takeover by Evangelos Marinakis.
Marinakis is a wealthy Greek businessman who has promised to invest heavily in Forest in order to help the club return to the Premier League.
However, it seems that Ronaldo is not part of Nuno's plans for the future.
The Portuguese forward has been a key player for Manchester United since returning to the club in the summer of 2021.
He scored 24 goals in all competitions last season, but has struggled for form this season, scoring just three goals in 16 appearances.
It remains to be seen where Ronaldo will play his football next season, but it seems that Forest are not interested in signing him.
Third-place 'doesn't mean anything', says Forest boss Nuno
Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has played down the significance of his side's third-place position in the Championship.
Forest are currently third in the table, two points behind leaders Burnley and one point behind Sheffield United.
However, Nuno is refusing to get carried away and insists that his side are not yet in the automatic promotion places.
"Third place doesn't mean anything," he said. "We are not even halfway through the season yet.
"There is a long way to go and a lot of hard work still to do.
"We just need to keep taking it one game at a time and see where we are at the end of the season.
Nuno's comments come after Forest's 1-0 defeat to Burnley on Tuesday night.
The defeat was Forest's first in the league since October and it saw them drop down to third place.
However, Nuno is confident that his side can bounce back and challenge for promotion.
"We are a good team and we have a lot of quality," he said. "We just need to show more consistency and we will be fine.
"We have a big game against Fulham on Saturday and we need to get back to winning ways.
"We know it will be tough, but we are confident that we can get the three points."
