Rangers Boss Slammed: Philippe Clement Call Leaves Gordon Dalziel Baffled After Aberdeen
Aberdeen chief under fire as Celtic loom
Rangers boss Michael Beale has been criticized by former Aberdeen goalkeeper Gordon Dalziel after his comments on potential target Philippe Clement. Beale had expressed his admiration for the Club Brugge manager, who has been linked with the vacant Celtic managerial role. However, Dalziel believes that Beale's remarks were disrespectful to Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin.
Clement comments spark backlash
Speaking to the media, Beale said: "Philippe Clement is a fantastic manager. He's done a great job at Club Brugge. He's a manager I admire." These comments have not been well received by Dalziel, who believes that Beale should have focused on his own team rather than speculating about others.
Disrespectful to Goodwin
Dalziel said: "I was baffled by Michael Beale's comments. He's the manager of Rangers, he should be concentrating on his own team. It's disrespectful to Jim Goodwin, who is doing a great job at Aberdeen." Goodwin has led Aberdeen to third place in the Scottish Premiership this season, just one point behind Rangers.
Celtic managerial search continues
Celtic are still searching for a new manager after Ange Postecoglou left the club to take charge of the Australian national team. Clement is one of the names that has been linked with the role, along with former Celtic manager Neil Lennon and ex-England boss Gareth Southgate. However, it remains to be seen whether Celtic will make a move for Clement, particularly after Beale's comments.
Aberdeen on the rise under Goodwin
Despite the speculation surrounding Clement, Dalziel believes that Aberdeen are in a good position under Goodwin. He said: "Jim Goodwin is a great manager. He's got Aberdeen playing well and he's got them challenging for a European spot. I'm confident that he can continue to improve the team and bring success to Pittodrie."
