India then extended their lead to 283 runs in the second innings, with Ravindra Jadeja scoring a fighting half-century. New Zealand were set a target of 284 runs to win, but they were bowled out for just 105 in the second innings.

The win gives India a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The second Test will be played in Mumbai from December 3.
