Ross County's Away Day Woes Continue

No Win in Over a Year

Ross County's struggles on the road continued on Saturday as they were defeated 2-0 by Motherwell at Fir Park. The result means that the Staggies have now failed to win an away match in the league for over a year, a run stretching back to a 1-0 victory at Hamilton Academical on 22nd January 2022.

Since then, Ross County have played 16 away matches in the league, losing 13 and drawing three. Their last away point came in a 1-1 draw at Dundee United in April 2022.

Goalscoring Problems

One of the main reasons for Ross County's poor away form has been their lack of goals. They have scored just six goals in their 16 away matches this season, a record that is the worst in the division.

Against Motherwell, Ross County had plenty of possession but failed to create any clear-cut chances. Their best opportunity came in the second half when Regan Charles-Cook fired wide from inside the area.

Defensive Frailties

As well as their problems in attack, Ross County have also been poor defensively on the road. They have conceded 30 goals in their 16 away matches this season, a record that is the second worst in the division.

Against Motherwell, Ross County were undone by two goals from Kevin van Veen. The Dutch striker scored in each half to give Motherwell a comfortable victory.

Manager's Comments

After the match, Ross County manager Malky Mackay admitted that his team's away form is a concern.

"We need to start picking up points on the road," Mackay said. "We've been too easy to beat away from home this season."

"We need to be more solid defensively and we need to start creating more chances and scoring more goals."

Upcoming Fixtures

Ross County's next away match is against Hearts at Tynecastle on 18th March. They will then face Dundee United at Tannadice on 1st April.

If Ross County are to avoid relegation, they will need to start picking up points on the road. Otherwise, they could find themselves in a battle to stay in the Premiership.
