Saints survive VAR drama to seal Premier League season's first win over Everton
Narrow 2-1 victory ends run of three Saints defeats
VAR drama saw an Everton equaliser ruled out and a Saints penalty awarded
Southampton ended their run of three Premier League defeats with a narrow 2-1 victory over Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
The Saints took the lead in the 22nd minute when Joe Aribo fired home from close range after a cross from Romain Perraud.
Everton equalised in the 52nd minute when Demarai Gray curled a shot into the top corner from the edge of the area.
However, VAR ruled out the goal for offside in the build-up, much to the frustration of the home crowd.
Southampton were awarded a penalty in the 85th minute when Vitaliy Mykolenko brought down Sekou Mara.
James Ward-Prowse converted the spot-kick to give the Saints all three points.
