Sam Quek reveals Strictly guilt, husband's 'jealousy' and medical emergency

Former hockey player Sam Quek has opened up about her time on Strictly Come Dancing, revealing she felt guilty about leaving her husband and children at home.

The Olympic gold medallist, 33, said she also found it difficult to be away from her family for long periods of time, and that her husband Tom Mairs was "jealous" of her dance partner Neil Jones.

Quek also revealed that she had to have emergency surgery after the show, which left her with a scar on her leg.

In an interview with The Sun, Quek said she felt "guilty" about leaving her husband and children at home while she was competing on Strictly.

"I felt like I was missing out on so much of their lives," she said. "I would be away for hours at a time, and I would miss bath time and bedtime."

Quek said she also found it difficult to be away from her family for long periods of time.

"It was really hard being away from them for so long," she said. "I missed them terribly."

Quek's husband, Tom Mairs, was also reportedly "jealous" of her dance partner, Neil Jones.

"Tom was a bit jealous of Neil," Quek said. "He would say things like, 'I don't know why you're spending so much time with him.'"

Quek said she understood her husband's jealousy, but she said she and Jones were just friends.

"We were just dancing partners," she said. "There was nothing more to it than that."

Quek also revealed that she had to have emergency surgery after the show, which left her with a scar on her leg.

"I had to have a cyst removed from my leg," she said. "It was quite a big operation, and I had to have a lot of stitches."

Quek said she is now recovering from the surgery and is looking forward to getting back to her normal life.
