Warriors' Hield Remembers Reggie Miller's Halftime Advice in Big Second-Half Performance
Hield Scores Eruption After Miller's First-Half Encouragement
Golden State Warriors guard Buddy Hield has credited Reggie Miller's halftime advice as the catalyst for his explosive second-half performance against the New Orleans Pelicans, where he scored 26 of his 34 points. During the break, Miller, a Hall of Famer and TNT analyst, reportedly told Hield, "You're soft, and you need to stop playing like a b****."Hield took that message to heart, saying, "I wasn't playing with enough force. I wasn't being aggressive enough. Reggie told me I needed to be more physical and attack the rim more."
Miller's Advice Spurs Hield's Scoring Surge
In the third quarter, Hield came out firing, scoring 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including three 3-pointers. He continued his impressive performance in the fourth quarter, adding another 12 points to seal the Warriors' 128-120 victory.
Hield's 34 points were his highest-scoring output since joining the Warriors in February. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists.
After the game, Hield praised Miller for his halftime advice, saying, "Reggie's a legend, and he knows what it takes to be successful in this league. I'm grateful for his advice, and I'm going to try to keep it in mind going forward."
Miller, who was on the call for the game, said he was impressed with Hield's response to his halftime message. "Buddy's a talented player, and he has the potential to be a star in this league," Miller said. "I'm glad he took my advice to heart, and I'm looking forward to seeing him continue to grow and develop."
