Warriors Sweep Pelicans in Rare Back-to-Back Before Leaving for Road Trip
Golden State Finishes Preseason 5-0
The Golden State Warriors completed a rare preseason sweep of an opponent with a 116-106 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans Friday night at Chase Center. The Warriors, who begin a five-game road trip Tuesday in Japan, finished their home preseason slate 3-0.
Poole Plays Well in Curry's Absence
Jordan Poole led the Warriors with 25 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Poole has averaged 21.4 points in the preseason while starting in place of the injured Stephen Curry (ankle).
Curry is expected to miss at least the first two games of the regular season. The Warriors open the 2022-23 campaign Oct. 18 against the Los Angeles Lakers at Chase Center.
Kuminga Continues to Impress
Jonathan Kuminga added 21 points and seven rebounds for the Warriors, while James Wiseman had 17 points and seven rebounds. Moses Moody chipped in with 15 points for Golden State.
Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with 22 points, while CJ McCollum added 21 points.
Warriors' Road Trip Schedule
The Warriors will travel to Japan for two preseason games against the Washington Wizards, facing them Tuesday and Thursday in Saitama.
Golden State will then open the regular season with a pair of games against the Lakers before traveling to Sacramento for a matchup with the Kings on Oct. 22. The Warriors will wrap up their road trip with a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Oct. 24.
