West Ham Held by Nottingham Forest, Michail Antonio Rescues Late Point
Michail Antonio's late goal earned West Ham United a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Sunday, extending the Hammers' unbeaten run to four games.
Brennan Johnson had given newly promoted Forest a deserved lead in the first half, but Antonio struck in the 74th minute to earn a share of the spoils for the visitors.
The result leaves West Ham 13th in the table, two points behind 10th-placed Forest.
West Ham started the game brightly, but it was Forest who took the lead in the 23rd minute.
Johnson collected the ball on the left flank and drove into the West Ham penalty area before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.
Forest continued to press for a second goal, but West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski made a number of excellent saves to keep his team in the game.
The Hammers finally found their equalizer in the 74th minute when Antonio headed home a cross from Aaron Cresswell.
Antonio's goal sparked a late rally from West Ham, but they were unable to find a winning goal.
"We're disappointed not to win the game, but we'll take the point," said West Ham manager David Moyes.
"Forest are a good team and they made it difficult for us, but we showed great character to come back from a goal down."
"We're now unbeaten in four games and we're starting to find some form," Moyes added.
"We're looking forward to the next game and we're confident that we can continue to climb the table."
