Inside the life of Sue Cleaver: from reconnecting with birth mum to weight loss
Coronation Street legend Sue Cleaver has had quite the life – from reuniting with her birth mum to shedding an impressive amount of weight
The actress, 59, is best known for playing Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV soap since 2000, but away from the cobbles, her life has taken many twists and turns.
Sue was born in 1963 and adopted as a baby. She always knew she was adopted, but it wasn’t until she was in her 20s that she decided to try and find her birth mother. She was helped by a friend who had also been adopted and had successfully found her birth parents.
Sue eventually tracked down her birth mother, Kath, and the pair were reunited in 1995. They have since developed a close relationship and Kath has even appeared on Coronation Street as an extra.
In 2018, Sue underwent a gastric bypass operation and lost an incredible 10 stone. She says the surgery was the best decision she ever made and has transformed her life.
Sue is now a vocal advocate for gastric bypass surgery and has helped many others to lose weight. She is also a patron of the eating disorder charity, BEAT.
