Marcelo has been one of Fluminense FC's most consistent performers this season, making 25 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals.
He is also a key member of the Brazil national team and was part of the squad that won the Copa América in 2019.
Fluminense FC will now have to find a way to replace Marcelo in their starting lineup. One option is to move left-back Cristiano to the right side of defense and play midfielder Martinelli at left-back.
Another option is to give young defender Calegari his chance to impress.
