Nepal lose to Sri Lanka in Hong Kong Sixes quarter-finals
Sri Lankan team has qualified for the 2024 T20 World Cup after beating Nepal in the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Sixes.
Batting first, Nepal scored 75 runs in their five overs. However, the Sri Lankan team chased down the target with two balls to spare.
Nepal's innings was anchored by Kushal Bhurtel, who scored 37 runs off just 16 balls. However, the rest of the Nepalese batsmen failed to contribute much, and the team was restricted to a below-par total.
In reply, Sri Lanka got off to a flying start, thanks to a quick-fire 22 from Pathum Nissanka. Bhanuka Rajapaksa then finished the game off with a boundary in the final over.
This is the second time that Sri Lanka has qualified for the T20 World Cup through the Hong Kong Sixes. They had previously qualified for the 2014 edition of the tournament.
Nepal, on the other hand, will have to wait for another chance to qualify for the T20 World Cup. They have now lost in the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Sixes for the second time in a row.
