Portsmouth news: How the Fratton faithful have reacted to Pompey team news v Hull
Portsmouth boss Danny Cowley makes three changes to his starting line-up for the visit of Hull
Danny Cowley has made three changes to his Portsmouth starting line-up for tonight’s League One clash with Hull City at Fratton Park.
Cowley has recalled Joe Rafferty, Liam Vincent and Colby Bishop to the XI, with Rafferty and Bishop replacing Kieron Freeman and Jayden Reid, while Vincent comes in for the injured Connor Ogilvie.
The Pompey boss has been forced into making one change to his defence, with Ogilvie ruled out with a knock, but he has kept faith with Rafferty at right-back despite Freeman’s impressive display in the Carabao Cup win over Stevenage in midweek.
Cowley: ‘We need to be more ruthless in front of goal’
Pompey fans react to team news on social media
The Pompey faithful have taken to social media to react to the team news, with many expressing their delight at the return of Bishop to the starting line-up.
One fan wrote: “Great to see Bishop back in the team. He’s our best striker and we need him firing if we’re going to challenge for promotion this season.”
Another added: “I’m not sure about Rafferty at right-back, but I’m willing to give him a chance. He’s a good player and I’m sure he’ll do a good job.”
However, some fans were less impressed with the team news, with one writing: “I’m not sure why Cowley is persisting with Rafferty at right-back. He’s not a natural defender and I think we’re vulnerable down that side.”
Another added: “I would have liked to see Freeman start tonight. He played well against Stevenage and I think he deserves a chance to keep his place in the team.”
Overall, the Pompey faithful are cautiously optimistic about their team’s chances tonight. They know that Hull are a tough opponent, but they are confident that their team can get the win if they play to their potential.
