Sam Quek: Strictly Come Dancing star confirms she is pregnant with first child
Former hockey player and Strictly Come Dancing star Sam Quek has announced she is expecting her first child with husband Tom Mairs.
The 32-year-old Olympic gold medallist shared the happy news on Instagram, posting a picture of herself and Mairs holding a baby scan.
Quek and Mairs married in 2018. She is best known for winning a gold medal with the Great Britain women's hockey team at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
She later appeared on the 14th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2016, where she was partnered with professional dancer Neil Jones. The pair finished in fifth place.
Quek's pregnancy announcement was met with congratulations from her friends and followers, including fellow Strictly stars Karen Hauer and Joanne Clifton.
She wrote: "We can't wait to meet you little one. Thank you for all the beautiful messages."
Quek has previously spoken about her desire to have children, saying in 2019 that she and Mairs were "trying for a baby".
She added: "It's a bit nerve-wracking but also very exciting. We're both very excited to start a family."
Quek's pregnancy announcement comes just a few weeks after her former Strictly partner Neil Jones announced that he and his girlfriend Sienna Hollen are expecting their first child.
Congratulations to Sam and Tom on their wonderful news!
