Missed first game for a wedding - now I want to fire Harborough Town to more FA Cup magic, says boss
Harborough Town boss Matt Elliott missed out on watching his side’s famous FA Cup win over Kidderminster Harriers after attending a wedding.
Elliott, who has been in charge of the Leicestershire club since 2019, was unable to secure a ticket for the game at Aggborough Stadium.
But the 41-year-old was able to follow the action on his phone and was delighted with his team’s performance.
“I’m so proud of the boys,” Elliott said.
“They showed great character and determination to come back from behind and win the game.
“It’s a famous victory for the club and I’m just disappointed that I couldn’t be there to see it in person.
“But I’m sure the fans who were there will have made plenty of noise and created a great atmosphere.
“I’m now looking forward to the next round and hopefully we can continue our FA Cup run.
Harborough Town will face League One side Portsmouth in the second round of the FA Cup on December 5.
Elliott is confident that his team can cause another upset.
“We’re going to Portsmouth as underdogs,” Elliott said.
“But we’ve shown that we can compete with teams from higher divisions.
“We’re going to give it our best shot and see what happens.
“The FA Cup is a special competition and we want to make the most of it.”
